Earl Sweatshirt has announced his first new album in three years. The follow-up to 2015’s I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside is called Some Rap Songs. It’s out November 30 (via Tan Cressida/Columbia). Following “Nowhere2go,” he’s shared the new single “The Mint.” It features Navy Blue (who’s worked with MIKE, Pink Siifu, and others). In a statement, Earl revealed that the new album addresses the death of his father Keorapetse Kgositsile. “Me and my dad had a relationship that’s not uncommon for people to have with their fathers, which is a non-perfect one,” Earl said. “Talking to him is symbolic and non-symbolic, but it’s literally closure for my childhood. Not getting to have that moment left me to figure out a lot with my damn self.”
Earl has shared music selectively in the years since I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside. He dropped loose tracks like “Solace,” “Wind in My Sails,” and “Balance.” He also featured on Danny Brown’s 2016 track “Really Doe,” and produced music for Mach-Hommy, Denmark Vessey, Medhane, and others.
