When he was a teenager, Ben Stiller was the drummer of a New York City post-punk band called Capital Punishment. Back in 2015, it was announced that Captured Tracks would be reissuing their first and only album, Roadkill, which was self-released back in 1982. Now, the label has finally firmed up plans for the reissue. The remastered and expanded version of Roadkill will be out September 14. It includes two bonus tracks, recorded in 1979 and 1983, respectively. Captured Tracks has also shared the LP’s single "Muzak Anonymous.” Listen below.
Capital Punishment formed in 1979 among four classmates. In addition to Stiller, the band featured Kriss Roebling (whose ancestors built the Brooklyn Bridge back in the 19th century), Peter Zusi (a current professor of Slavic studies), and Peter Swann (who would go on to become a Supreme Court Justice for the state of Arizona).
