Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley Biopic Gets Lead Actor, Release Date

Austin Butler will play the icon, and Tom Hanks will portray Presley’s infamous manager Col. Tom Parker

The actor set to play Elvis Presley in the upcoming Baz Luhrmann-helmed biopic has been revealed. Austin Butler, who starred in the TV shows “The Carrie Diaries” and “Arrow,” will play Presley, THR reports. It’s also been announced that Tom Hanks will play Col. Tom Parker, who was Presley’s infamous manager who almost single-handedly guided the singer’s career. The Warner Bros. feature is currently untitled. Luhrmann penned the script alongside Craig Pearce. According to a new report by Variety, the film is slated to hit theaters October 1, 2021.
