Chance the Rapper is developing a new musical feature film called Hope. According to a press release, the movie “follows a group of Chicago teenagers that band together to turn art into action within their community.” Frequent collaborator Nico Segal (fka Donnie Trumpet) will oversee the making of the film’s original music. Carlito Rodriguez (Fox’s “Empire”) is writing the original screenplay.
Chance’s manager Pat Corcoran and Trademark’s Scott Bernstein (a producer on Straight Outta Compton) are also developing Hope, whose rights were acquired by Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures (MGM).
Earlier this year, the Chance-starring film Slice was released. In addition, a Chance-featuring “Saturday Night Live” sketch won a 2018 Emmy Award. Chance was also nominated at the 2017 Emmys.
