The Uncharted movie has a finished script, from the guy who said he's sure someone will hate his guts

The Uncharted movie might actually happen, which puts it well ahead of the vast majority of game adaptation projects.

Uncharted movie writer Joe Carnahan has posted an image of the finished script to Instagram, commenting that it is "done and dusted".

Carnahan described his finished work on the Uncharted movie as a "beast" and a "monstrously cool action script", which is not especially modest but very Hollywood.

You may remember Carnahan for saying some notably sane things about the Uncharted movie project back in November. At the time, he said he's pretty sure Uncharted fans will like the film but acknowledged that someone, somewhere will hate him for the liberties he takes with the source material.

Sensibly, Carnahan spoke in generalities, commenting that you can't just lift game plots for movies and expect good results, and citing former Uncharted creative lead Amy Hennig's approval of his interpretation.

This is far more agreeable to the oft-rabid fans games attract than admitting you've turned Sully into a 16 year old emo guitarist, or whatever. Remember when David O. Russell said he was turning Uncharted into The Sopranos? Now that got backlash. If Sony is sensible nobody will say anything until the movie is in cinemas and it's too late for us to start throwing tanties.

The Uncharted movie has slipped several times, and has been removed entirely from Sony Pictures' schedule. It'll probably be at least a year or two before it makes it.
