Fresh out of gamescom 2016 is a new video showing off the 3D platformer brought to you by some of the folks behind Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country.

In it, you get a look at some of the new enemies, moves and mechanics in the game's first world, Tribalstack Tropics, which is what press attending the show this week are getting their hands on.

Yooka-Laylee is a spiritual successor to the Banjo Kazooie series  and within hours of launching on Kickstarter back in May, it met its initial funding goal of $270,000.

Developed by former Rare studio members at Playtonic Games, the project has entered the polish stage and is slated for release in Q1 2017.

Yooka-Laylee will be made available for Windows, Mac, Linux, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Wii U.
