Sony has announced that the PlayStation 4 has sold through over 30.2 million units worldwide since its release in late 2013. The figure is as of Sunday, November 22nd, and Sony says “PS4 continues to demonstrate the fastest and strongest growth in PlayStation hardware history.”
PlayStation 4 sales hit 30 million worldwide
Microsoft hasn’t revealed Xbox One sales figures in over a year, saying last November that it was close to having shipped 10 million units to retailers. That’s not a point of comparison worth using today, but the PS4 has consistently outsold the Xbox One in Microsoft’s traditional stronghold of North America, according to NPD figures. Last month the Xbox One was on top in the US for the first time since April, likely boosted by sales of Halo 5: Guardians.
Nintendo’s Wii U, which came out around a year before the PS4 and Xbox One, has moved 10.73 million units worldwide as of September 30th.
