They're gonna do the whole "JFK was a Skrull" just like they made JFK a Mutant in the Fox X-Men series aren't they.

Wait, I forget - was JFK a mutant or was he just killed by Magneto.

He was a mutant and Magneto tried to save him, but got stopped before he could fully curve the bullet to save his life.

I think the joke was that Magneto was involved in the assassination, bending bullets.

It wasn't even a joke.

is this expected to be

a) fluffy 'what if' style with lots of fan fiction on who was a skrull or not
b) more serious standalone show with possible multiple seasons
c) setup for a big movie/movies?

Feels like the subject matter would suit any of it really

Kinda both. Magneto was imprisoned for killing him, but then he tells Charles that he was trying to save him because he was a mutant.

Personally I hope its singular connected stories and not one long over-arching plot.

For reference the original trailer for this dropped last September. They're definitely making good on spacing the D+ releases out now. Wonder when we'll get a new trailer.

i'm readyyyyy

Crazy how long the gap between MCU shows has been.

probably the new normal for MCU on Disney+. 2, maybe 3 shows a year going forward if we're lucky? I'm curious to see if some of the upcoming shows in production are gonna get retrofitted into Specials or something.

At this point we don't know if it's just Loki for the rest of the year or maybe we are getting Agatha too? (I'm thinking that's early 2024)

Feels like a long wait, but I really hope it pays off in the final quality of it (and other projects)

I doubt they'd do that at this point anyway
Yeah I doubt they would. They kept Bill Murray's scenes in Ant-Man and he has well-documented indecent behavior through his career.

Agreed. And I feel like this one is a show they can't afford to mess up because of the talent attached and the tone they are aiming for.

i remember some people saying this was gonna have Winter Soldier vibes and it got me unreasonably hyped. the MCU has needed a good "spy flick" for a while.

Although they did cut Lilly's scenes down to almost nothing apparently lol.

Loki is September I'm guessing and Ashoka November?

2024s schedule is gonna be really insane then.

Of course what's D+ non premiere shows?

8 shows released in 18 months and then nothing for 10 months. A bonkers strategy.
Well they were dropping a lot of stuff in quick succession after each other, and people were like "slow down, this is too much!" So they did.

Ahsoka is probably in between Secret Invasion and Loki.

Some of this was filmed in my home town in Yorkshire, I walk around where it was filmed quite regularly so it will be surreal to see Sam Jackson in the same place!

The comic event was entertaining because all superheroes across the spectrum were steeped in paranoia and couldn't trust each other until Reed or someone could figure out how to detect skrulls. But unless this show is hiding a ton of cameos of A-listers, then I'm assuming the paranoia in this is just limited to non-heroes, people in government, etc, which doesn't really give the same unique vibe as the comic event. Such a shame this wasn't a big movie event in my opinion. Could have essentially been Civil War 2.

i dunno Civil War and Secret Invasion are like the best setups for Marvel event comics that have the worst execution. Civil War benefitted from being scaled down and I think Secret Invasion will end up similarly. Hinging it on these two actors/characters will go a long way - we can tell from what little we've seen since Captain Marvel that Fury and Talos trust each other tremendously, who the hell else does Nick Fury trust to have him impersonate him like that? Seeing that trust tested to the point of breaking could make for an awesome story.

I hope it's also finally the MCU entry where Cobie Smulders gets to do...something. Maria Hill has been absolutely wasted in the MCU compared to how much of a major figure she is in the comics.

Hope this is more Andor than Bobba fett or even Mando. Great cast and potential so I hope they have nailed it.
