Not including F2P games, probably Minecraft and Kerbal Space Program, both of which I bought early in development while they were super cheap, and both of which provided hundreds of hours

Rocket League comes to mind, got it for free with PS+ and have put countless hours into it, even more so with the Xbox and Switch versions.

Without a doubt it's been Binding of Isaac. I got a couple hundred hours for free with PS+, then bought it on steam and double my time. Then I bought it on switch and have played it a bit more.

Considering I've earned $150 through selling crates and have almost 600 hours played I guess PUBG fits.

Because I buy most of my games on day one, the only cheap but amazing game I recall is Binary Domain on PS3. I got it for 20 dollars but I would have paid full price on day one, if I had known about the game before.

From what I remember in the last few years I played around 200 hours of Witcher 3, Hitman, Skyrim, and Total War: Warhammer. Paid full price for all of those, no ragrets.

Mass Effect trilogy on PS3. I bought it for $15 and not only it gave me 100 hours of gameplay, it also became one of my favorite gaming series of all time.

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2. Spent $40 on it when it launched and played it anywhere from 2 to 8 hours per day for about 4 years.

Unquestionably Half-Life 1.

Not just the greatest single-player first person shooter ever, but I put thousands of hours into Team Fortress Classic, Day of Defeat, and Counter-Strike (among other mods).

Getting a PS3 and 4 later in their lives allowed me to get a lot of games for very cheap. 360 too and I'm planning on getting a One S sometime this year with the same plan in mind.

Shovel knight. I can't remember what I paid for it on wii u but it wasn't much. Then yacht club games gave me two free dlcs. (Spectre, plague). And I think the king knight is gonna be free too? Awesome game and very generous with add ons

Bought SFV for £25 and I've been playing for the last couple of years. The game is constantly updated and gets new free content plus I've bought 4 dlc character with in game currency and I have enough for like 8 more. I'm pretty sure I'll be playing it for years to come, and probably won't spend another penny on it.

That would be Terraria, over 300 hours after getting it for $2.50 AUD in a Steam sale. Since then there's been an insane amount of free content updates too.

TF2 was technically "free" even though I got it from the Orange Box. But I had over 5k hours in a game I payed 20 dollars for (and still got several other games in the process).

Easy. advance wars....I don't even know how many hours....hundreds if not thousands (used to create custom maps and challenge my cousin via emulator and save states, at one point it was so bad that we had four different games on the go, it was getting ridiculous.)

Runner up: Rocket League.

How did this workout? Did you have to email each other save states or was you able to supsend the games online?

I'd love to do something like this and it would be great if this or similar turn based games you can play online at your convenience (like a turn per day) that are not bandwidth intensive.

Recently, Skyrim on Switch. Still haven't done all that much 70 hours in. One of the few games I bought at launch/not on sale because I knew it would be worth the money.

Funnily enough OP, I recently picked up a used copy of Infinite Warfare (legacy edition) in Tokyo. It was cheaper than a regular copy, I assume because nobody wants to own a case that promises more content then it actually has. Just to be sure I tried the included Modern Warfare Remastered code, and it was unused. So for about $10 I got both games, and some weird person originally paid full whack for both games and never even played the remaster.

Straight Dollar/Hour ratio?

For non-free games, probably the Disgaea series overall - I think D3 was where I technically had the most hours (Puppy Paw Stick ftw). Fallout New Vegas probably comes in after that.

Most time spent on a free game is probably Dota.

I think I paid $3 for Desert Golf on Android. It has been my go-to game for the past 3+ years now.

Got Animal Crossing New Leaf for free from a 3 for 2 deal where i would've bought all the games anyway, and put 200+ hours into it. Pretty good!

Probably regular Binding of Isaac. Hundreds of hours and I'm not sure I paid more than a couple bucks for it.
