Fortnite Abandoned Mansion challenge: getting into the basement, how to dance

Fortnite really seems to like that whole dancing thing. It might have gotten them into hot water, but there's nothing like a good jig to brighten the mood. The abandoned mansion dance off challenge however is more akin to line dancing where it's about positioning than showing your moves. You'll also need friends to complete the challenge, so this guide will go over where to find the abandoned mansion, how to access the dance floor, and how to "dance".

With the game being the global sensation that it is, there's a lot to learn about not only getting that all-important "Victory Royale", but also the changes to the map as the seasons progress, and the challenges you can seek to complete. Head over to our Fortnite guide hub for every single thing you need to get started. Alternatively, you can head back to our Fortnite week 6 challenges guide for an overview of all the weekly challenges for this Season in Fortnite.

Abandoned Mansion location, how to access the dance floor

This challenge requires more than one player to complete, but it doesn't have to be a teammate. The mansion you seek is just north-east of the race track in the desert biome close to Paradise Palms.

Once you've made your way to the right mansion, you'll need to head down the basement. You can access it by simply smashing your way through the barricades on its northern face. You'll barely see the dance floor through the barricades, but it only takes one hit to clear the way. There's also some barricades on the southern side too if you approach from that end.

Completing the Abandoned Mansion dance off challenge

Once you've entered the basement, you'll be able to spot the dance floor, as well as numbers. Stepping on either side will make the other side flash, hence why it requires a second player. To participate in the contest, you just need to stand on the glowing stiles to score points, with the player that has the most stepped on being declared the winner.

You'll need to finish the contest in order for the challenge to unlock, which also means you'll need to survive until the end of the dance off. If you're with a team, make sure someone is keeping guard, particularly if you're playing the standard Battle Royale modes. Also, don't dilly dally as you're very likely to be where the Storm comes in, and since it's at the edge of the map, you don't want to be caught off guard. You can't complete challenges in Playground Mode either, making the necessity of a guard all the more important.

This concludes the Abandoned Mansion dance off guide, but there's another challenge that can be unlocked for this week. Head to our Piano locations and sheet music guide to find out where the piano keys are in Fortnite, and which notes you need to play.
