Fortnite's V7.20 Patch Notes brought with it a slew of unexpected gifts to the world's most popular Battle Royale, including the new Scoped Revolver, one of the latest additions to Fortnite's weapons roster. A cross between a Hand Cannon, a Six Shooter, and a Scoped Assault Rifle, we've been hard at working trying out this punchy new pistol to see how it fares against all the other weapons in Fortnite.

In this Fortnite Scoped Revolver guide, we'll walk you through the weapon's damage potential and other stats, as well as the locations you can find the Scoped Revolver and some useful tips and tricks to employ in order to use the pistol effectively.

The Scoped Revolver is available only in Epic and Legendary colours, making it a high rarity pistol equal to the Hand Cannon. It takes Medium Ammo and can hold six shots in its magazine, very much akin to the recently vaulted Six Shooter. As with all other guns in Fortnite except sniper rifles, the Scoped Revolver is hitscan (it has no bullet travel time).

But where the Scoped Revolver deviates completely from the norm is that it's the first pistol to feature a fully functional scope (I know, you couldn't possibly have guessed this from its name). Its slow rate of fire and high accuracy makes it a useful mid- to long-range choice, particularly in the early game before everyone has switched over to Hunting Rifles and Heavy Sniper Rifles.

All this is sounding rather like a Hand Cannon, wouldn't you say? Well, let's take a closer look at the Scoped Revolver's stats and see how it compares to its rivals.

The Scoped Revolver, according to the V7.20 Patch Notes, can spawn as floor loot, or from chests, Supply Drops, and Vending Machines.

This is nothing out of the ordinary, as most weapons in Fortnite can be found through all the standard forms of loot. It's good to hear that we'll have an additional choice when it comes to Epic and Legendary Vending Machines - if anything it just lessens the chance of the Minigun spawning as one of the options, which is always a welcome thing.

Now, the question running through everyone's minds has been whether the Scoped Revolver is powerful enough to take over a Hand Cannon, or a one-shot Sniper Rifle such as the Hunting Rifle or Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle. In answer to this, it does not seem like the Scoped Revolver has quite the stats to keep up with its main competitors, but it's still worth taking under certain circumstances. Let's go over the main comparisons one by one.

• Scoped Revolver vs Hand Cannon: WORSE. When it comes to Fortnite, flat damage is king. It's why you should always pick a shotgun over an SMG (though of course you should have both if possible), and it's why I won't soon be taking a Scoped Revolver over a Hand Cannon that deals nearly twice the damage per shot. the scope is nice, but unnecessary - and sometimes even a hindrance - for players who can land accurate shots while aiming down sights.
• Scoped Revolver vs Sniper: WORSE. Again, pure damage is just too important. This goes for Hunting Rifles as well as any of the scoped snipers. The ability to one-shot someone is just too useful to give up for the ability to shoot six shots instead of one before reloading. You only need one shot with a sniper anyway.
• Scoped Revolver vs Dual Pistols: BETTER. Now this is a more apt comparison. You can think of the Scoped Revolver as a variant of the Dual Pistols outfitted for long-range fights rather than close-quarters combat. Very similar damage, and sacrifices rate of fire and clip size for accuracy and a scope. Obviously the two weapons fulfil completely different roles, but I'd argue that if you've got an AR and a shotgun already and you're choosing between Scoped Revolver and Dual Pistols for your backup weapon, at least the Scoped Revolver allows you to engage enemies from a good distance.
• Scoped Revolver vs Thermal Scoped Assault Rifle: DRAW. The Scoped Revolver actually deals more damage per shot than the Thermal AR, and it fires faster, too. But, of course, the clip size and thermal overlay that the Thermal AR provides are truly excellent for long-range combat. It's honestly down to player preference. Both weapons are hitscan semi-auto guns, so both are very capable of decimating enemies from afar in skilled hands.

Now, let's finish up with some tips and tricks to employ with the new Scoped Revolver, so that you can start racking up those kills with Fortnite's latest weapon.

• Headshots! I really hope this goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. The Scoped Revolver deals 84-88 damage per headshot. That stings. Take advantage of those moments before the enemy has spotted you by really taking the time to line up that headshot to decimate their shields or health - or even kill them outright if they were previously wounded.
• Fire from the hip if need be. If you've no other option for close-quarters combat, don't give up just yet. While it doesn't have first-shot accuracy while firing from the hip, the Scoped Revolver's slow rate of fire and fairly low bloom means you can fire repeatedly from the hip and still be able to hit your shots at close range. Hit five out of six shots, and they're dead.
• Keep the pressure on. The one thing the Scoped Revolver has on the Thermal AR, Hunting Rifle, and Hand Cannon is its rate of fire. This should be an indicator to you that you should not let up the pressure after your first shot. Empty your entire clip at them as they struggle to erect walls to defend themselves. Even landing two shots is enough to severely damage your opponent and force them onto the back foot.
• Don't bother breaking structures with it. The Scoped Revolver is surprisingly powerful against players, but there are far better choices when it comes to breaking down opponents' structures. SMGs, Assault Rifles, Hand Cannons and Heavy Sniper Rifles all do the job three times as fast. Better to save your six bullets for the enemy players themselves.
