Assassin's Creed Odyssey Pirate Islands: how to complete the side quests

Venturing into the wider Mediterranean Sea, the first port of call just so happens to be the home to a bunch of pirates. The main leader, Xenia, will want a lot of money for information, but thankfully these quests involve a lot of plunder to obtain. This guide will go over the main side quests for the Pirate Islands and how to complete them.

Red in the Wreckage

Two civilians want you to find a ship captained by Gotarzes. You’ll find them in the island of Lestris, south of Keos. You’ll find Miltos in a nearby chest, but the rest of it will be underwater. A shark is defending the cargo, so kill it and loot the chests. Once you have the Miltos, you’ll complete the quest, but Gotarzes and his crew are still on the island.

Lost and Found

Should you choose to defend Gotarzes, you’ll have to fight his mutanying crew. Escort him back to Keos and he’ll reward you, under duress as her sister happens to be Xenia. She'll also be open to asking you about her own troubles involving treasure maps, so you can find out more on that in our Assassin's Creed Odyssey Xenia Treasure Hunts guide.

Recruitment Drive

The Steward asks you to sink a few ships. Spartan, Athenian, and bandits alike. You’re given some sails to indicate this, so equip those from the pause screen immediately. Then sink two of each type of ship. Return to the Steward for a cash reward.

We’re not Thieves

A woman on Keos called Obelia says directions were stolen. Head to the other side of the island at the leader’s house. She’ll then want you to deliver it to her associate in Poieessa, so go steal it and deliver it to her contact for the reward, only Obelia is there instead. She mentions the tablet hides treasure underwater, which if you accept her request begins the next quest.

We’re Treasure Hunters

She’ll then ask you to find the treasure which sank on southern tip of Keos. After diving and getting the treasure at the bottom of the wreckage, avoiding the sharks, you’ll surface to find she followed you. Climb aboard her ship to find out she’s going to double cross you. Killing her will provoke her crew, but net you a tidy sum thanks to the artefact.

Making Friends

Khloe wants to give her friends jewellery, but needs pearls and shiny stones to do so. Pearls are found in the Polydektes Lagoon, north-east of Seriphos, while the shiny stones are located in the Abandoned Mines west of the Temple of Athena. The stones are in baskets in the mine and you need three of them to have enough. Just be careful of the many snakes in the area. The pearls on the other hand are guarded by sharks, so kill them and loot the pearls. Diving all the way down to the bottom will not net you any pearls, but there is an offshoot to that cavern that does have pearls and a chest. Return to the little girl to find that her friends are in fact clay structures. After a heartwarming tale, you have a gut-wrenching choice before completing the mission.

Heart of Stone

Kallikleia wants to be Aeitos's husband, but a Hekate Witch convinces her that she needs a love potion. The ingredients they need  are wine from the shipwreck to the west of the island and mushrooms in the Customs Warehouse on the south of the island. Give the items, then use the wait command until nightfall. It becomes evident that the witch tricked her, so either kill the witch or tell the girl she got played.

That's all the side quests for this region so far. Head on back to our Assassin's Creed Odyssey side quests guide for more information about another quest-line or another region's set of side quests.
