Rainbow Six Siege Doc: Q1 2019 update, what he can do and how to use him

What's up?

Doc fulfils a unique role in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege as the defensive team's medic. In a game where everyone's trying to kill each other, Doc just wants to save his teammates lives with his hypodermic shots. He is of course no slouch when it comes to dishing the damage on enemies trying to kill his teammates, so this guide will show you exactly what he has to offer.

Doc operator guide

For newer players, Doc could be quite the handful, especially if you're more used to running around and shooting enemies. Of course, our Rainbow Six Siege guide hub explicitly says why you shouldn't do that anyway, but Doc's role is to keep somewhat back in case your team gets injured or needs that extra boost.

Doc's Stats

Armour: 3
Speed: 1

Doc's Weapon Loadouts

Doc has access to the SG-CQB pump-action shotgun, the P90 submachine gun and the MP5 submachine gun. You can do a fair bit of damage roaming around with the shotgun, but the MP5 is arguably the better gun in most circumstances. That said, it has seen a slight damage reduction, so bringing it more in line with the usefulness of the P90 submachine gun. The P90 has a better firing rate and capacity, but its stability is not particularly great. Therefore it's certainly up to you what you bring as your primary weapon. As for sidearms, he has the P9 and the LFP586. As the LFP586 is a Magnum revolver, it has high damage at the cost of recoil and capacity, so the P9 is more universally useful.

Doc's Gadgets

The rest of Doc's loadout can include either the barbed wire or the bulletproof camera. Either is a viable option really as the camera provides intel while the barbed wire slows down oncoming enemies.

Doc's Skill

Doc is the go-to medic as he can fire a hypodermic shot from his MPD-0 Stim Pistol to revive either himself or a teammates. If it's shot into an friendly player who is still alive, this provides a temporary boost instead, so could be good in a pinch.

Should I pick Doc?

It depends if you're the kind of player that likes to move in tandem with someone else. Lone wolves will not really get a great deal out of him, whereas following someone else around and keeping them healthy can be vital. As long as you can keep an eye on your teammates, as well as your own health, then Doc is an invaluable member of the team. If you can't, it's a wasted slot.

His ability to defend himself with the MP5 has been reduced because of the damage reduction, but his ability is the more important aspect of the character overall. He's also a good operator to get used to when you are starting out on Rainbow Six Siege, just not as good as he used to be.

The attackers also have access to a healer of sorts in the form of Finka. If you'd like to know more about her, or indeed any of the other operators, head to our main Rainbow Six: Siege operators guide, which has links to each individual operator, as well as an overview on the more universally useful ones and which ones beginners should consider learning.
