Rainbow Six Siege Ash: Y4S1 update, what she can do and how to use her

Penetrating the enemy defences

Ash is one of several operators in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege that can blow holes into walls. However the FBI attacker operator has some incredibly good weapons to choose from as well as a decent selection of gadgets to wield. Below are some tips and tricks in order to effectively use Ash when storming the defender's compound..

Ash operator guide

A common strategy for defenders, particularly those new to the game, is to hunker down behind barricades and wait for the whole thing to blow over. Ash's breaching rounds skill makes a mockery of this and can make things rather difficult for them very quickly. She's a great operator for newer players to use, so if you'd like a more general gameplay overview, head to our Rainbow Six Siege guide hub.

Ash's Stats

Armour: 1
Speed: 3

Ash's Weapon Loadouts

Ash has the R4-C assault rifle and the G36C assault rifle. Both are surprisingly similar weapons with the same ammo capacity, but the G36C sacrifices fire rate and damage for recoil stability. That said, the G36C is better at short range, while the R4-C has the advantage for longer range. Her sidearms are the M45 Meusoc and the 5.7 USG. As both of her primary weapons are assault rifles, the pistol choice is down to personal preference. The only thing is that the R4-C now no longer has the ACOG scope, but it's generally decent without it.

Ash's Gadgets

Her two gadgets are the breaching charge and the stun grenade. Both are useful in different circumstances in order to confuse the enemy, whether it's throwing a stun grenade into a newly created hole, or setting off a breaching charge shortly after her other ability detonates.

Ash's Skill

Ash's ability is to fire breaching rounds from the M120 CREM (Compact Rifle Entry Munition). The breaching rounds drill into walls, including the kevlar panels used by Castle on the defending team, and blows up after a short time, ripping it apart. There are only two rounds though and are lost if it hits a non-drillable surface, so use sparingly.

Should I pick Ash?

While her ability is a little more nuanced, she's a solid pick for breaching into the enemy compound, as well as for setting up ambushes. That said, it's vital you have a good team behind you when using her as coordination during attacks is when she's most effective.

Ash's breaching rounds are very good, but she's not the only attacking operator that can make walls explode. Check out our main Rainbow Six: Siege operators guide to find all the links to each individual operator, as well as an overview on the more universally useful ones and which ones beginners should consider learning.
