In Raft, Trash Cubes are the basic form of currency used at Trading Posts. You can make Trash Cubes pretty early on, and you should, if you want to get your hands on rare items. Our Raft Trash Cube guide explains how to make Trash Cubes using the Recycler, as well as where to find the Recycler blueprint.
How to get Trash Cubes in Raft
Trash Cubes are the most basic Trading Post currency

Where to get the Recycler blueprint
The blueprint for the Recycler is at the top of the Radio Tower, the first story island. Once you pick it up, you’ll learn the recipe to make the Recycler right away, so you don’t need to hold onto the actual blueprint.
If you are playing on a save file from before “The Final Update” patch came out, you can go back to the Radio Tower to pick it up, but your file should automatically update with the recipe, so you don’t necessarily need to.
Once you make a Recycler, you can place it anywhere there’s space for it on your raft. It requires the following to be built:
- 6 Plastic
- 4 Metal Ingot
- 2 Bolts or Hinges
- 1 Circuit Board
It also requires one charged battery to use, making it a bit more of a mid-game item than an early-game one.
How to make Trash Cubes
You can stick most basic crafting materials into the Recycler to make Trash Cubes. Each item has its own value, and the higher the value, the less number of materials it will cost to make one Trash Cube.
For example, stone has the lowest value (being a very common material), so it takes 50 stone to make one Trash Cube. Wool and Titanium Ore are much harder to get, so they have the highest value — it only takes two of each to make one Trash Cube.
We recommend just dumping all the extra Palm Leaf and Stone into your Recycler. We found ourselves swarmed with way too many of both materials, so we fed them into our Recycler the most frequently.
What to do with Trash Cubes
Once you get a handful of Trash Cubes, you’ll want to dock at any large random island you can find (not story islands). These islands will have Trading Posts, where you can exchange the Trash Cubes for special fishing bait. Use these bait to catch fish, and once you trade the fish to the Trading Post, you’ll be able to buy special recipes, furniture, and blueprints.
