In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, after beating all five Titan Pokémon in Path of Legends, you’ll need to fight your companion Arven.

Arven’s team isn’t particularly hard to take down, but if you’re under-leveled, or if you don’t know their typing, his battle can be a little bit tricky. We recommend being at about level 60 before battling him, but you can very likely beat him with a team of Pokémon around level 55.

He doesn’t specialize in any one type, which makes this battle a little bit annoying in comparison to the previous ones. However, you can use flying-, ground-, water-, and fighting-type Pokémon to take out a ton of his party.

Arven uses the Pokémon we saw him use against the Titans, along with his newly recovered Mabostiff. His party is as follows:

  1. Greedent, level 58 (normal)
  2. Scovillian, level 60 (grass/fire)
  3. Garganacl, level 60 (rock)
  4. Toedscruel, level 61 (grass/ground)
  5. Cloyster, level 59 (water/ice)
  6. Mabostiff, level 63 (dark with dark Tera Type)

After his battle, he’ll talk about going into The Great Crater. If you have not finished the Starfall Street or Victory Road paths, then you will need to both wipe out Team Star and beat the Elite Four (and Champion) first.

Why we like itPokémon Scarlet and Violet introduced a fun narrative with multiple story arcs for different companions. The open world gameplay was also fun and refreshing, despite needing a bit more polish. If Scarlet and Violet are what future Pokémon games will expand upon, we’re excited about that future.
