Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Montenevera gym (Ryme) guide

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s Montenevera is a beautiful small town in the snowy cliffs of Paldea, home to Ryme, the ghost-type gym leader.

If you’re going in order of difficulty, Ryme will be the sixth gym leader you face.

Before taking on Ryme, you’ll need to take down trainers in three back-to-back double battles. Make sure your first two Pokémon in your party are ready for battle.

The battles are as follows:

1. Greavard, level 40 (ghost) and Shuppet, level 40 (ghost)
2. Misdreavus, level 40 (ghost) and Haunter, level 40 (ghost/poison)
3. Drifblim, level 40 (ghost/flying) and Sableye, level 40 (ghost)

Throughout these battles, people in the crowd will cheer you on, occasionally raising your Pokémon’s stats.

Ryme gym leader battle

Ryme uses ghost-type Pokémon. Her party is as follows:

1. Mimikyu, level 41 (ghost/fairy)
2. Banette, level 41 (ghost)
3. Houndstone, level 42 (ghost)
4. Toxtricity, level 42 (electric/poison with ghost Tera Type)

Similarly to the gym challenge, the crowd will cheer during the battle, but they’ll also cheer for Ryme sometimes, boosting her Pokémon’s stats as well.

Ryme gym battle counters

Ghost-type Pokémon are weak against ghost- and dark-type moves. Since using more ghost-types is a double-edged sword, consider sticking to dark-type Pokémon.

You can also use normal-type Pokémon, but with other move types, since ghost-type moves have no effect on normal-type Pokémon and vice-versa. (For example, you could use a Zangoose with Shadow Claw, a ghost-type move you get from TM61.)

We recommend any of the following, which you can find relatively nearby:

• Greavard (ghost)
  Glaseado Mountain
• Sneasel (dark/ice)
  Glaseado Mountain

Montenevera gym rewards

After beating Ryme, she’ll give you TM114 (Shadow Ball), a special ghost-type move that hits hard. If this is your sixth gym badge, you’ll be able to control Pokémon up to level 50.
