Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Cascarrafa gym (Kofu) guide

Cascarrafa is a beautiful water wonderland next to a desert in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. It’s also home to Kofu, the water-type gym leader.

The Cascarrafa gym is the fourth gym in terms of difficulty, but you can battle Kofu pretty much whenever you want.

Cascarrafa gym challenge (Make the winning bid at the auction!)

To challenge Kofu, you’ll need to deliver his wallet to him in Porto Marinada. But first, you will have to battle one of his lackeys. The trainer has the following party:

1. Floatzel, level 28 (water)
2. Clauncher, level 28 (water)

After this battle, Kofu will ask you to bid on some seaweed for him and he’ll give you $50,000 to do so. Just keep bidding above the other bidders. We bought the seaweed for $45,000.

Kofu gym leader battle

Kofu specializes in water-type Pokémon. His party is as follows:

1. Veluza, level 29 (water)
2. Wugtrio, level 29 (water)
3. Crabominable, level 30 (fighting/ice with water Tera Type)

Kofu gym battle counters

You should be able to pretty much clean sweep Kofu using a grass-type Pokémon. His Veluza does know Pluck, a flying-type move, but it didn’t do enough damage to our team to be a problem.

We recommend using any of the following, which can be found nearby:

• Capsakid (grass)
  West Province (Area One)
• Skiddo (grass)
  West Province (Area One)
• Flaaffy (electric)
  West Province (Area Two)

Cascarrafa gym rewards

After beating Kofu, you’ll get TM22 (Chilling Water), a special water-type move that lowers the target’s attack stat. If this is your fourth gym badge, Pokémon up to level 40 will now obey you.
