Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Levincia gym (Iono) guide

How to beat Iono’s electric-type Pokémon

Levicinia is a bustling city in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that serves as home for Iono, the streamer gym leader. Iono uses electric-type Pokémon.

Though you can tackle Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s gyms in any order, we recommend going up against Iono third, after bug-type user Katy and grass-type specialist Brassius. (Iono is the third-strongest gym leader.)

Levincia gym challenge (Find Mr. Walksabout!)

You’ll need to find your school’s dean (lovingly renamed “Mr. Walksabout” by Iono) in a Where’s Waldo-type game. Just point the cursor at him to point him out.

After finding him, you’ll need to battle with two of Iono’s fans. They have the following Pokémon:

  1. Luxio, level 22 (electric)
  2. Tynamo, level 22 (electric) and Flaaffy, level 22 (electric)

After finding your dean the third time, you can battle Iono.

Iono gym leader battle

Iono uses electric-type Pokémon. Here’s her party:

  1. Wattrel, level 23 (electric/flying)
  2. Belibolt, level 23 (electric)
  3. Luxio, level 23 (electric)
  4. Mismagius, level 24 (ghost with electric Tera Type)

Iono gym battle counters

You can mostly use ground-type moves to take down a bulk of Iono’s party, but Wattrel’s dual flying-type renders it immune to ground-type moves. Mismagius also has the ability “Levitate,” allowing it to avoid ground-type moves entirely.

You can use rock- and ice-type moves to take out Wattrel. As for Mismagius, just hit it with the strongest moves you’ve got and it’ll go down in no time.

You can find the following counters just north of Levincia:

  • Diglett (ground)
    East Province (Area Two)
  • Larvitar (rock/ground) (Scarlet only)
    East Province (Area Two)
  • Rolycoly (rock)
    East Province (Area Two)
  • Silicobra (ground)
    East Province (Area Two)

Levincia gym rewards

After beating Iono, she’ll give you TM48 (Volt Switch), a physical electric-type move that allows you to swap your Pokémon out after hitting the enemy. If this is your third gym badge, you’ll be able to control and catch Pokémon up to level 35.

The next gym to head to after Iono’s is Cascarrafa gym.
