Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Artazon gym (Brassius) guide

How to beat Brassius’ grass-type gym

Artazon is a beautiful town in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that is also home to the grass-type gym leader, Brassius.

You do not have to do gyms in order in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet (though you will be barred from going past certain points depending on your Team Star progress), but we recommend hitting this gym second.

Artazon gym test (Sunflora hide-and-seek)

You’ll need to gather 10 Sunflora that are sitting around town. The Sunflora are in various locations, so we can’t map them out for you, but just check everywhere around town. We found some in the hedge maze, in the playground, and even in front of vending machines.

These aren’t to be confused with the large Sunflora statues in pots. The ones you’re looking for are sitting in a kind of sad position.

Brassius gym leader battle

As a grass-type gym leader, Brassius uses (shocker) grass-type Pokémon for the most part. His party is as follows:

  1. Petilil, level 16 (grass)
  2. Smoliv, level 16 (grass)
  3. Sudowoodo, level 18 (rock with grass Tera Type)

His Sudowoodo has a grass Tera Type, making it a bit annoying, especially if you brought fire-type counters for this battle. Sudowoodo knows rock-type moves that will smush your fire-types down, so you might want to rely on poison-types

Brassius gym battle counters

You should use fire-, bug-, or flying-type moves against Brassius. However, since his Sudowoodo still knows rock-type moves when Terastallized, you should not use flying- or fire-type Pokémon against it.

We recommend any of the following (which can be the same Pokémon you caught for the previous gym leader, Katy):

  • Nymble (bug)
    South Province (Area Three)
  • Rookidee (flying)
    South Province (Area Three)
  • Squawkabilly (normal/flying)
    South Province (Area Three)

Artazon gym rewards

After beating Brassius, you’ll get TM20 (Trailblaze), a physical grass-type move that boosts the user’s speed stat. If this is your second gym badge, you’ll also gain control over all Pokémon under level 30.

The next gym after this one is Levincia’s gym with the leader Iono.

The next level of puzzles.
