Far Cry 5 includes animal sex

Well, then!

Animals play a major role in Far Cry 5 — as the player, you can befriend creatures such as dogs and send them into battle to fight for you. Fierce dogs are a common sight in the rural America that is the backdrop for Far Cry 5, and the game includes something else that’s straight out of nature: animal copulation.

Boomer, one of three “Guns for Hire” that developer Ubisoft Montreal is showing off at this point, is an angry canine companion that Far Cry 5’s protagonist can befriend. To be clear, Boomer directs his anger at the player’s enemies, whom he will take out with extreme prejudice — hell, he’ll even fetch their guns for you.

Ubisoft published a video about Boomer today, in which the UbiBlog interviews Far Cry 5 creative director Dan Hay. But about three-quarters of the way through the video, some off-screen footage of the game caught our eye:

In case you can’t make out what’s going on there, the player character stops his vehicle to observe a startling sight outside his passenger-side window (albeit one that’s probably pretty common in a place with a lot of farms): a bull mounting a cow and mating with her.

Yes, there’s definitely at least one full thrust there.

The previous entry in the franchise, 2016’s Far Cry Primal, featured a variety of Stone Age beasts, like mammoths and saber-toothed tigers. But it was the humans that occasionally got frisky in that game, not the animals.

There’s no word on whether Far Cry 5 will include anything more than bovine copulation. We’ll have to wait and see when the game comes out Feb. 27, 2018, on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One. For more, check out our hands-on impressions from E3 2017.
