Nintendo and Ubisoft are teaming up again for Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, a sequel to 2017’s Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, for Nintendo Switch. The strategy game that mashes up the Super Mario and Rabbids worlds is coming to Switch in 2022, according to a product listing on Nintendo’s website. Ubisoft later confirmed the new Mario + Rabbids during its Ubisoft Forward press conference at E3 2021.

Here’s the game’s official story, from Ubisoft:

Cursa, a mysterious and malevolent entity seeks out energy to further its nefarious plans, plunging the galaxy into chaos. Twisting the planets with its evil influence, it’s determined to consume all the energy of the Sparks, uncanny creatures formed by the fusion of Lumas & Rabbids, and destroy all who stand in its way. To bring order back to the galaxy and save the Sparks, Mario and friends team up with Rabbids heroes in a journey through mysterious and ever-surprising planets.

Ubisoft also released a gameplay trailer, showing what it has planned for the follow-up to Kingdom Battle.

And here’s the game’s official description and a trio of screenshots from the Switch eShop:

Team up with Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Rabbid Peach, Rabbid Luigi, and their friends on a galactic journey to defeat a malevolent entity and save your Spark companions. Explore planets throughout the galaxy as you uncover mysterious secrets and compelling quests!

Build your dream team with three heroes from an eclectic roster of nine.

Take down all new bosses, along with some familiar enemies throughout the galaxy.

Rescue the adorable Sparks throughout the galaxy, who provide distinct powers that will help you in battle.

Unleash your heroes’ skills but be strategic as you dash your enemies, team jump on your allies, and hide behind covers.
