Super Sea Snails are one of the most important items in all of Splatoon, and it’s no different in Splatoon 3. These little shelled snails are the key to quickly upgrading your gear, so you’ll want to grab as many as you can.

Our Splatoon 3 Super Sea Snail guide explains how to get Super Sea Snails and where to find them.

How to get Super Sea Snails

The only known way to get Super Sea Snails in Splatoon 3 (as of writing this) is competing in Splatfests. The more you participate, the more snails you’ll get, capping out at 24 if your chosen team wins.

You’ll get this many Super Sea Snails depending on your title at the end of the Splatfest:

  • Fan: 2 (+1 if your team wins)
  • Fiend: 3 (+2 if your team wins)
  • Defender: 7 (+2 if your team wins)
  • Champion: 13 (+3 if your team wins)
  • Ruler (and above): 21 (+3 if your team wins)

In Splatoon 2, you could get Super Sea Snails for leveling past 30, but this is not the case in Splatoon 3.

What do Super Sea Snails do?

Take your Super Sea Snails to Murch and he’ll have two services to offer for them. He can raise the star power on your gear, which costs more the higher you’re trying to raise the level. He can also reroll the sub ability slots on any gear with three full slots. (You’ll get the Ability Chunks of the abilities that you had before you rerolled as well.)

We mainly recommend using the Super Sea Snails to reroll for quick Ability Chunks, but if you have been dying to upgrade your favorite piece of gear and have been getting unlucky with seeing it in the shop, we won’t neg you for using a snail to upgrade its star level.
