How to fix broken Dendro pillars in Genshin Impact

What’s the deal with these cracked, broken pillars?

In Genshin Impact’s new Sumeru area, there are tons of broken elemental Dendro pillars, especially in Avidya Forest. Our Genshin Impact guide explains how to fix these pillars and what they’re used for.

To fix the broken pillars, you’ll need the “Kusava” gadget, which you get from a world quest. In order to get the gadget, you’ll first have to complete “The World of Aranara,” which is the first quest in the second part of the “Aranyaka” world quest series.

This is a pretty long quest line that is heavily guided. It starts with the woman struggling against fighting mushrooms, which you have probably run into as you’ve done the Archon Quests. We’ve marked her location below anyway.

After completing “The World of Aranara”, a new world quest, “Starry Night Chapter,” will appear directly north of the Avidya Forest Statue of the Seven. We’ve marked its location below.

Set the “Kusava” as your equipped gadget and follow the quest directions, repairing the statues. Note that you will not be able to repair statues outside of the quest line until you complete the step “Go to the exit of the cave.” There is a broken Dendro pillar in a tent right outside the cave exit, but you won’t be able to fix it until after you complete that step (if you were the type to go around from outside and try fixing things preemptively, like me.)

After completing even more of the quest, the “Kusava” gadget will get removed from your inventory, but don’t fret. You’ll learn a song, “Rhythm of Revival,” to play on your “Vintage Lyre” gadget that will allow you to repair the leftover pillars you may find.
