Wanna pat Houndstone’s head? Here’s how to get it

With a little candle on its head, Greavard is one of a few extremely cute puppy Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Its evolutionary line turns the ghost-type Pokémon into Houndstone, a slightly older looking dog with a gravestone replacing the candle on its head.

By the way, don’t touch the thing on its head: He doesn’t like that, according to its PokéDex description.

Where to find Greavard

Greavard are pretty common — you’ll find them in a bunch of places up north on the map, but there’s a ton of them concentrated near Ryme’s ghost-type gym. Look closely when you’re searching for it, though. Greavard is often found hiding underground, with its candle the only part showing.

Houndstone is pretty easy to get if you know the right conditions; just level it up to 30 at the right time of day. Here’s how to do it.

How to evolve Greavard into Houndstone

Evolving Greavard into Houndstone is pretty easy: You need to bring Greavard up to level 30 at night. How do you know if its night? Well, for one, it will look sort of dark in your game. But you can also confirm the time of day by opening the Paldea map and looking at the icon at the top of its frame. During the day, you’ll see the sun. At night, it’s the moon.

If you reach level 30 during the day, Greavard won’t evolve. Nothing will happen. However, if you level that Greavard up again at night, it’ll evolve into Houndstone.
