Every Pokémon Scarlet and Violet sandwich and ingredient

Look, after a long day of battling bullies and trekking down Victory Road, sometimes you just need a sandwich. Part of Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet’s new Picnic activity, sandwiches are a new way to give you and your Pokémon certain passive buffs — affecting the Pokémon you may find, or the experience and dropped items you may earn. Buffs last 30 minutes per sandwich.

The ingredients you choose determine which buffs the sandwich will give. Sweet ingredients, for instance, have the tendency to increase Egg Power, while bitter ingredients help increase Item Drop Power. There are a lot of buffs and a ton more different ways to mix them together, so if you’re looking for something specific, it’s important to understand how the ingredients work — and work together.

Playing around with ingredients will help, but you can always follow set recipes, too. You must unlock most of these recipes by talking to the sandwich guy standing out the sandwich shop; he’ll give you new ones in different towns. Head home to your house and talk to your mom for more recipes. You don’t have to make these recipes, because there is a creative mode — but this is an easy way to know what you’re getting. (There may be more efficient ways to, for instance, increase Sparkling Power to find shinies.)

You’ll have to buy ingredients at stores around the Paldea region. When you first begin the game, you’ll have limited ingredients at each store, but these will slowly roll out as you make progress in reaching cities and towns. Here’s a list of what sandwich ingredients you can buy, and where you can buy them. The further you progress down the list at each location, the more milestones you have to meet.

Once you have these ingredients, you can start putting together sandwiches at your picnic sites. There are a number of specific sandwiches that exist in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet; you’ll pick up recipes at sandwich shops (there’s a guy in each shop with new recipes) in Paldean towns.

Otherwise, there’s a creative mode where you can experiment and go wild with sandwiches. That’s where you’ll input the ingredients for sandwiches you don’t have recipes for, or just craft your own. The other thing to know is that you can’t save sandwiches and store them in your bag, like other items. They’ll get eaten right when you make them, setting off the passive buffs immediately.

Remember, though, that if any ingredients fall off or aren’t input correctly for the below recipes, it won’t retain the power stats — it’ll be labeled one of your own original creations. If you don’t want to make your own sandwiches, you can buy sandwiches from sandwich shops around Paldea. Not every town has a sandwich shop, but the bigger ones do. Like with sandwich-making at picnics, you’ll eat the sandwiches immediately, beginning the passive buff. If sandwiches aren’t your thing, Paldean towns also have a number of different restaurants and cafes where you can buy food with different passive buffs; you’ll also find food — like ice cream and churros — at stalls.
