Ubisoft delayed two of its big 2021 games on Friday, pushing Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction out to January 2022, and Riders Republic back by eight weeks, from Sept. 2 to Oct. 28.

Rainbow Six Extraction, the Rainbow Six-operators-versus-alien-infestation shooter that was previously known as Rainbow Six Quarantine, was originally slated to launch Sept. 16. Ubisoft communicated that date just one month ago, but said in an update posted Friday that the game needs more time.

From Ubisoft’s statement:

Our ambition with Rainbow Six Extraction is to deliver a full-fledged AAA experience that changes the way you play and think about cooperative games. With unique features like Missing In Action or The Sprawl, every mission is set to be a tense and challenging experience in which you’ll lead the elite operators of Rainbow Six in a fight against a lethal and evolving alien threat.

We are embracing the opportunity to take additional time to bring this vision to life in the way it deserves in January 2022. We are confident this will ensure Rainbow Six Extraction is the immersive, cooperative, and thrilling experience we set out to create, and the one you aspire to play.

The team making Riders Republic, Ubisoft’s cross-discipline extreme sports racer, said it too needs more time to polish that game:

To ensure we can deliver the best game for all players, we’ve made the tough decision to delay our release date from September 2 to October 28. This will give us more time to fine tune the experience and give you another chance to jump in before launch and provide feedback.

Riders Republic was first announced in September 2020, and planned for launch in February 2021. Ubisoft delayed the game indefinitely in January, but later settled on a September 2021 launch.

Both Rainbow Six Extraction and Riders Republic are bound for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, with streaming versions coming to Amazon Luna and Google Stadia.
