A new Perfect Dark game is on the way from The Initiative

A new Perfect Dark is on the way and it appears to be another reboot. The game’s first teaser trailer debuted during The Game Awards 2020.

The trailer gives us some background on the world of this new version of Perfect Dark. The game takes place in a far-flung future in a world that was torn apart by ecological disasters. While the developers don’t say much about what these disasters were, the world seems to have moved on thanks to the help of a few very large and powerful corporations that now run most of the world. But things aren’t going as well as they might appear, and the corporations have a dark side. And that’s where Agent Joanna Dark comes in.

Just like previous entries in the series, the new Perfect Dark will be a first person shooter. According to the developers at The Initiative, the game will have a heavy ecological focus. One developer even describes the game as “Eco Sci-Fi,” and they’re careful to note that while this game may be a first-person shooter, it’s about more than just shooting.

Unfortunately, those are all the details the developers have revealed for now. There also isn’t a release date yet. When Perfect Dark does launch, it will be available on Xbox platforms.
