On Friday, developer Superbrothers announced that its new science fiction game Jett: The Far Shore has been delayed until some time in 2021. The game was originally scheduled for this holiday. It’s still expected to release simultaneously for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and on PC via the Epic Games Store.

According to a statement made by the studio, delaying was the best option it had both for the quality of the game and the health of the people making it.

“As of now it seems we’re in need of more time in order for Jett to soar, and for the squad to complete this interstellar trip in good condition,” Superbrothers said.

Jett: The Far Shore was originally announced in June 2020. Specific details on the game were sparse, but its gorgeous first trailer shows a young character sent from their home village into a rocket ship to explore the stars. As the rocket takes off the trailer says, “Carve out a future for a people, haunted by oblivion, propelled by dreams.”

Next, the rocket docks into some kind of space station and the trailer cuts hundreds of years into the future and shows off several different beautiful looking alien worlds that we’re sure to explore in the actual game. As for what the actual gameplay of Jett: The Far Shore will be like, we’ll have to wait until closer to its new release date to find out.
