Far Cry 5 seemingly has you securing Trump’s alleged ‘pee tape’

It was in Montana all along!

Far Cry 5’s “Patriot Acts” mission has the player collecting the tape of an alleged act that has become a pop culture joke.

You begin the mission by speaking to a man who claims to be a special agent, and says he was sent by the “Big Man” himself. And he has a very special job for you.

“I need you to recover a tape that, if released, could make him look bad to the public. I tracked it here, to a member of Joseph’s happy family. He’s stashed it somewhere, and that’s where you come in.”

Joseph Seed is one of the game’s antagonists, leader of a cult known as Project at Eden’s Gate.

The owner of the in-game tape is described as a hotel worker who “got a little too nosy” about “the Big Man’s” time in a luxury suite, and then “fled Kremlandia.”

The “pee tape” is a colloquialism for a video that is referenced in an unverified dossier that collected evidence of Donald Trump colluding with Russia.

“The most salacious allegation, of course, was that Russian authorities had obtained sweet, sweet kompromat on Trump in the form of a video that showed Trump, who stayed in a hotel room in Moscow that the Obamas had previously stayed in, ‘defiling the bed where they had slept by employing a number of prostitutes to perform a ‘golden showers’ (urination) show in front of him,’” the New Republic reported. “For the record, there is no evidence (thus far) that the pee tape actually exists.”

Far Cry’s mission never specifies which tape you’re trying to find, or for whom you’re trying to find it, but it, um. Hints. Often.

“Attention comrade, the bed has been wet,” the special agent tells his source over the radio. “I repeat: the bed has been wet.” There is also a reference to a metaphorical “yellow brick road.”

It doesn’t stop there.

“Remember, as ironic as this may sound, this is NOT a wet works mission,” the agent says. “Surveillance only, do not engage the target unless instructed.”

Get it, wet works? You can watch a video of the mission at the top of this post.

The mission ends when you take possession of the VHS tape and deliver it to the agent, who then goes back on his deal about helping you with the game’s cult.

“I know you were wishing for a handout,” you’re told, “but that’s just how it is.”
