The next Witcher RPG is coming to Indianapolis in August

New tabletop role-playing game set to debut at Gen Con 2018

A brand-new entry in the Witcher franchise is scheduled to debut this August. No, it’s not another video game. It’s a tabletop role-playing game, developed and published by R. Talsorian Games.

Announced in the summer of 2015, The Witcher Role-Playing Game is an opportunity for fans of the franchise to explore that world through a traditional pen-and-paper experience. You can expect the book to be full of lore drawn from CD Projekt Red’s video game series, as well as the original novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski.

R. Talsorian says it has sent the final version of the core book to the printer. The company’s booth at this year’s Gen Con in Indianapolis, the largest tabletop convention in the U.S., should be well-stocked when the vendor floor opens on Aug. 2. Copies are expected to sell out fast, but the digital version will be available “either during or soon after the convention.”

If the name of that developer rings a bell, that’s because R. Talsorian also publishes books in the Cyberpunk universe. The original sourcebook, Mike Pondsmith’s Cyberpunk 2020, is the inspiration for CD Projekt Red’s next game — Cyberpunk 2077. Therefore, a collaboration between the two teams for a game themed around The Witcher makes perfect sense.
