Codename: Loop is a twin-stick shooter game based on Half-Life.
The initial goal of the game was to make a Roguelike game based on Half-Life, but with the almost complete BSP support, I'm going to be focusing more on linear campaigns with "dynamic/random" stuff and user-created campaigns. The roguelike mode will be something additional and will be added after making an official campaign for Codename: Loop.
The plot of the game is not written yet but the main idea is that G-Man confined Gordon Freeman inside an ever-changing loop to test if he is able to escape from it to ensure that he is a truly worth hiring candidate.
The game is made in Unity from the ground up, it uses a special BSP Importer (Thanks to Zombie) that allows me to create all the rooms using J.A.C.K. Hammer Editor to ensure the same "vibe" of GoldSrc games and also allows users to create their own custom campaigns. I'm also making some custom models, textures, and animations to improve some aspects of the original assets. (like all the third person animations and weapon models).
Features
A demo build that includes everything I have made so far for Codename: Loop is available now! The demo doesn't have enough content to be released on Steam and that's why I'm uploading it here.
The main purpose of thes demo is to showcase the current state of the project and, at the same time, receive feedback and provide something for you to play with during the long wait for the final version.
The demo includes a single map, which is a small section of Questionable Ethics (adapted by Hezus), where we aim to demonstrate the majority of features currently included in Codename: Loop. However, there are many more things in the demo!
These are some of them:
As you may know, one of the aspects that have taken me the most time to implement in Codename: Loop is the BSP Support. Thanks to this, it is possible to create custom levels and campaigns for Loop. Currently, Loop supports most of the entities present in Half-Life and already allows loading custom campaigns and maps.
At Codenameloop.com, you will find all the necessary information to create your own levels/campaigns for Codename: Loop and get a better idea of all the currently supported entities and some new entities exclusive to Loop.
Remember that you can also experiment with playing default Half-Life maps in Loop, but they are not going to work properly due to the way Loop loads the maps and the lack of a save system, but is still fun.
I hope you enjoy this small demo and that you feel encouraged
to create your own levels and share them with others!
A few months ago I asked Valve for permission to publish my Half-Life fan game on Steam and... guess what? Codename: Loop is coming to Steam, hopefully...
This new demo will feature some maps made specifically for Loop and the build will also include all the tools and info required to make your custom campaigns...
This is a sample campaign, use this as a template. Have fun creating your own custom campaign for Codename: Loop.

Yoo there ya go.
It's been over 2 years, imagine if the dev will return.
It's not dead. Pinky is busy with his other game Rogue Mansion
So, Valve doesn't allow their assets to be used outside their engines. If this project is still alive, it's probably undergoing a complete rework, which would also likely have to remove important things like BSP support, since Valve also doesn't allow their tools and file formats to be used with other engines.
TL;DR, probably dead, probably because Valve said so.
Is the project alive?
Make a android version
the project may have not gotten any public updates in over a year but i say we all make custom maps
The dev was last online in august 2023, makes you think :(
I hope it isint abondoned.
Is this still being worked on? We haven't gotten any updates.
