Marvel star Dave Bautista has addressed the future of Drax after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.

Talking to us for the new issue of the Digital Spy magazine (out now on Apple News+), Bautista was keeping tight-lipped about what we can expect from the third movie, mostly because he doesn't know himself.

"I don't know what the script of the third film is, to be honest with you. There was a script years ago that obviously is going to have to change because the whole direction of the Marvel universe has changed," he explained.

We now know that the third movie will finally come out on May 5, 2023, but as to whether we'll see Drax again in the MCU after that movie, Bautista isn't so sure.

"There were talks for a while about a Drax and Mantis film. It was really because it was James Gunn's idea. He really wanted to do a Drax and Mantis film. He laid it out to me. I thought it was such a brilliant idea, but I haven't heard any follow-up from the studio," he noted.

"I don't think they're very interested, or it doesn't fit into the way they have things mapped out. But other than that, no. I mean, as far as my obligations, I've got Guardians 3, and that's probably going to be the end of Drax."

We can only hope things change between now and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3's release in May 2023 as we're not ready to say goodbye to Drax just yet.

As for Bautista, he'll next be seen in Army of the Dead, directed by Zack Snyder, and he told Digital Spy about why he passed up the opportunity to star in The Suicide Squad for the Netflix movie.
