DJ Khaled, Drake & Lil Baby’s ‘Staying Alive’ Debuts at No. 1 on Hot Rap Songs Chart
The new champ is Khaled's first in five years, and starts as the week's most streamed song of any genre.
DJ Khaled returns to No. 1 for the first time in five years on Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs chart as “Staying Alive,” featuring Drake and Lil Baby, starts at the summit of the chart dated Aug. 20. The track’s arrival stems largely from the song’s status as the most streamed song of the tracking week.
“Staying Alive,” released Aug. 5, registered 23.5 million official on-demand U.S. streams in the week ending Aug. 11, according to Luminate. That sum made it the most streamed track of the week across all genres, and as such, it begins at No. 1 on both the Rap Streaming Songs and all-genre Streaming Songs charts. Additionally, “Alive” sold 5,000 downloads in the same period, enough for a No. 1 opening on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart.

For airplay – the third metric, along with streaming and sales, that powers Hot Rap Songs – the collaboration drew 10 million in total radio audience in the week ending Aug. 11. The track also generated enough plays on radio stations and audience listenership to debut across multiple radio rankings. On plays-based charts, which order songs according to the number of plays at the radio format, “Alive” bursts onto the 40-position Rhythmic Airplay chart at No. 22 and advances 35-27 on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay after the tracking week ending Aug. 14. On charts that rank through audience totals, “Alive” pushes 18-15 on Rap Airplay and rises 27-26 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay.

The new champ gives DJ Khaled his third No. 1 on Hot Rap Songs. He previously reached the summit with near twin-titles: “I’m the One,” featuring Drake, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne ruled for 13 weeks in 2011, as did 2017’s “I’m on One,” featuring Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper and Lil Wayne.
Lil Baby logs his second No. 1 on Hot Rap Songs, following his collab with Nicki Minaj, “Do We Have a Problem,” which led for one week in February.
Drake picks up his record-extending 26th champ on Hot Rap Songs, and third of 2022. His prior visits this calendar year came from he and Tems’ featured spots on Future’s “Wait for U,” a two-week No. 1 in May, and his own “Jimmy Cooks,” featuring 21 Savage, which posted one week in charge in July.
As he extends his reign atop the leaderboard, let’s review the acts with the most No. 1s on Hot Rap Songs since the list began in 1989:

Elsewhere, “Alive” begins at No. 3 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and at No. 5 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100. On the latter, its arrival seals a historic feat for Drake, who passes The Beatles for the most top-five hits on the list, dating to its 1958 launch.
