Guided By Voices, Jimmy Eat World, and the Donnas will anchor the indie-focused This Ain’t No Picnic festival in Irvine, Calif., this October. Returning after a two-year hiatus, the Oct. 5 event will feature a number of up-and-coming acts, including the Mars Volta, Pretty Girls Make Graves, El-P, and Les Savy Fav.
Other acts on the bill include Blonde Redhead, DJ Z-Trip, the Von Bondies, Har Mar Superstar, Moving Units, No Knife, the Kinison, Recover, Your Enemies Friends, and Wagner. Tickets are priced at $30 and will go on sale Thursday (Aug. 29) via Ticketmaster. The festival will take place at the Oak Canyon Ranch, roughly 40 miles outside of Los Angeles.
This Ain’t No Picnic was originally intended as a yearly affair. However, once Southern California concert promoter Goldenvoice also committed to staging the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, which books similar acts, This Ain’t No Picnic presented a scheduling conflict on the summer docket.
The last This Ain’t No Picnic took place in July of 2000, and featured Beck, Yo La Tengo, Modest Mouse, At The Drive-In, Grandaddy, and Creeper Lagoon, among others.
