Van Halen

Helmed by the flamboyant, five-octave David Lee Roth and fueled by dynamite lead guitarist Eddie Van Halen, Van Halen set a new bar for heavy rock with 1978's "Runnin' with the Devil," their fiery instrumental "Eruption" and synth-pop crossovers like 1983's "Jump" and "Panama." The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.
