Olivia Rodrigo’s hit song “Drivers License” is continuing its domination — and is now working its magic on the tough guys of Saturday Night Live.
In a Feb. 20 sketch simply titled after the song, host Rege-Jean Page is at a bar with the guys of SNL, all talking a tough game before they start shooting some pool. “Hey, easy boys! I’ll take all of your money by the end of the night,” Page boasts while at the jukebox. “Just let me play my song first.”
As the soft notes of the hit single — which has topped the Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks straight so far — begin to play, Page sighs and closes his eyes, taking in the music. Beck Bennett looks up confused, and demands to know what they’re listening to.
While Page explains the song, it becomes clear that they’re not as unfamiliar with with Rodrigo as they may seem. “I guess it’s about a girl getting her driver’s license. It’s bittersweet because it’s something she and her ex always talked about,” Bennett adds, clearly familiar. “That’s what I guessed based on hearing it for the first time right now.”

The guys then talk about what inspired the lyrics, including Rodrigo’s rumored relationship with High School Musical: The Musical: The Series costar Joshua Bassett, who reportedly moved on with Sabrina Carpenter.
Soon after, the guys find themselves belting out the emotional lyrics, using their pool cues as microphones. They went on to reveal their knowledge of young pop singers, comparing Rodrigo to Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift, before once more letting their emotions — triggered by the song — get the best of them.
The sketch ended with the guys with their arms around each other, singing the bridge at the top of their lungs.
Rodrigo, who just turned 18 on Feb. 20, shared her excitement about having her debut single featured in an SNL sketch. “DRIVERS LICENSE SNL SKETCH IS THE BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER IM SHAKING,” she tweeted.
