Kid Rock worked Twitter into a frenzy late Wednesday afternoon (July 12) when he confirmed that a new Kid Rock for Senate website was, in fact, legit.
“I have had a ton of emails and texts asking me if this website is real… http://kidrockforsenate.com,” the rocker tweeted. “The answer is an absolute YES.”
He added in a second tweet: “Stay tuned, I will have a major announcement in the near future.”

This isn’t the first time Rock has been rumored for political office: Back in February, a Roll Call report claimed the Michigan musician’s name was tossed around as a possible Senate candidate at a state Republican Party convention that month. The Senate seat in question currently belongs to Democrat Debbie Stabenow, who has been in office since 2000.

When contacted by Billboard, a rep for Rock pointed us to the artist’s Facebook page, where he echoed his Twitter messages.
While Rock’s social media seems all in on a Senate run, some are questioning the fact that when you click to buy merchandise on the campaign site, it redirects to a Warner Bros. Records page — indicating that he might just be promoting new music for the label and not actually be running for office. Billboard has reached out to Rock’s rep for clarification.

So if Warner Bros. Records is backing @KidRock by selling his yard signs, does UMG back Kanye 2020?

One of several reasons I’m having some skepticism? Also the merch links go back to a Warner Bros website…
