Taylor Swift‘s fans believe their wildest dreams of the re-recorded version of 1989 is coming true soon.
Twitter picked up the #1989TaylorsVersion trend on Wednesday night, as Swifties started predicting that she would announce the release of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) on Friday (June 18) with just one day’s notice, staying true to her impromptu album rollout style with her Grammy-winning album Folklore and its sister LP Evermore last year.
In April, the “Hey Stephen” singer dropped by The Late Show for a chat with host Stephen Colbert, where the Swifties saw too many Easter eggs hinting at the re-release of her fifth album that she initially released in 2014. But their presumed dates didn’t prove their theories, as some believed the re-recording of 1989‘s lead single and Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit “Shake It Off” would be released on May 14, and 1989 (Taylor’s Version) on June 4. The pop superstar already teased the re-recorded version of “Wildest Dreams” in the Spirit Untamed trailer.
Swift’s mission to re-record her first six studio albums has already proven successful, with Fearless (Taylor’s Version) taking the Billboard 200 throne almost 13 years after her breakthrough sophomore set earned Swift her first No. 1 album. Considering she’s not going in order, jumping from her second to fifth album in the list of re-recordings is fair game — and her fans seem ready for it.
Swift’s latest “Just a Summer Thing” merch collection seems to come with a new set of Easter eggs, as the font, sky-blue color and “EST. 1989” tag harken back to the aesthetics of the 1989 album. But the title, “Just a Summer Thing,” comes from a lyric on her Folklore track “Betty,” when she sings, “If I told you it was just a summer thing?/ I’m only seventeen, I don’t know anything.” But the Swifties think they know something based on the second line. Considering Thursday is June 17, fans think the re-recording of 1989 is either being announced today or released today.
