From Miley Cyrus’ country-pop duet with Dolly Parton to spitting verses with Wiz Khalifa and Juicy J, there’s no denying the pop star’s catalog is chock full of genre-bending collaborations.
Cyrus’ latest collaboration was recently teased in the first trailer for Charlie’s Angels, and while her track with Ariana Grande and Lana Del Rey has yet to be released, what better way to prep than by revisiting some of her previous bests?
Here’s Billboard’s list of Cyrus’ ten best collaborations to date.
10. “Ashtrays and Heartbreaks”
Collaborator: Snoop Dogg/Lion
Why We Love It: One of the only songs released under Snoop Dogg’s alias, Snoop Lion, “Ashtrays and Heartbreaks” is a melodic departure from his typical hip-hop sound. Backed up by Cyrus’ vocals, the track is reggae fusion at its finest.
9. “Tiger Dreams”
Trending on Billboard
Collaborator: Ariel Pink
Why We Love It: This dreamy track off of Cyrus’ often overlooked album Miley Cyrus & Her Ded Petz effortlessly mixes electronic with touches of synth-pop and psychedelic rock, making Ariel Pink the ideal fit.
8. “Rainbowland”
Collaborator: Dolly Parton
Why We Love It: Cyrus recruited her Godmother Dolly Parton for this retro-sounding country pop track inspired by Cyrus’ colorful home recording studio. The lyrics themselves are just as vibrant: “Livin’ in a rainbowland/Where everything goes as planned and I smile/’Cause I know if we tried, we could really make a difference in this world.”
7. “Come Get It Bae”
Collaborator: Pharrell
Why We Love It: While Cyrus isn’t formally credited on this funky Pharrell tune, her vocals add depth to this upbeat, lady-loving jam.
6. “Catitude”
Collaborator: RuPaul
Why We Love It: The lyrics aren’t exactly poetic, but the song’s beat is infectious nonetheless. This vogue-worthy dance track is truly only something that drag legend RuPaul could help Cyrus pull off.
5. “Butterfly Fly Away”
Collaborator: Billy Ray Cyrus
Why We Love It: This sweet ballad sums up a father-daughter relationship without sounding cheesy. The butterfly metaphor in the song’s lyrics perfectly encapsulate a coming-of-age story, while Cyrus and her father’s vocals harmonize over beautiful notes of acoustic guitar.
4. “Party Up The Street”
Collaborators: Swae Lee, Mike WiLL Made-It
Why We Love It: “Party Up The Street” is a chill bop with a beat still good enough to dance to. What’s more, Swae Lee’s smooth singing voice compliments Cyrus’ velvety vocals.
3. “FU”
Collaborator: French Montana
Why We Love It: The sassy “FU” showcases Cyrus’ powerful vocal range. While it wouldn’t be the same without the assist from French Montana, Cyrus is undoubtably the star of this pounding electro-pop track.
2. “23”
Collaborators: Mike WiLL Made-It, Wiz Khalifa, Juicy J
Why We Love It: With bragadocious lyrics like, “I’m MC Hammer fly, you can’t touch/J’s so fly I should work at Flight Club,” Cyrus proves that she can hang with the likes of Wiz Khalifa and Juicy J in the singer’s hip-hop debut.
1. “Nothing Breaks Like A Heart”
Collaborators: Mark Ronson
Why We Love It: Mark Ronson provides us with his best dose of country-meets-disco on this bouncy track, which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart in early 2019.
