Jenn Decilveo’s Manzanita Lane Partners With Kobalt to Boost Emerging Talent

Through the deal, the Grammy-nominated songwriter-producer doubles down on her mission to support emerging talent.

In 2018, acclaimed songwriter-producer Jenn Decilveo launched Manzanita Lane to help “build a publishing company that feels like a community,” she says. “It was important to me to have a place that would support and develop young incoming talent the way that I wanted support 10 years ago.”

Now, today (July 8), the company has announced a partnership with Kobalt .

Since its inception, the Los Angeles-based Manzanita Lane has signed Chicago indie-rocker Appleby, singer-songwriter Ryn Weaver (behind the 2014 snappy hit “OctaHate”) and rising electropop act Wens, among others. Considering Decilveo’s own path and success in the industry — she co-wrote and co-produced Andra Day’s smash hit “Rise Up,” and has credits with Anne-Marie, Marina and many more — she, in many ways, makes for an ideal figurehead to help guide others to similar feats.

She says sharing in her roster’s successes “and being able to connect them with like-minded creatives who share a similar ethos” are among the best parts of the role. And though she says Manzanita Lane will grow following the partnership with Kobalt, “we maintain that small intimate family feel where our writers feel comfortable to speak and create their truths.”

The partnership first came about when longtime friend Jesse Willoughby, GM of Kobalt, Nashville, approached Decilveo last year about partnering on a business venture beyond her own songwriting.

“Jenn has an incredible gift not only as a writer and producer but also the ability to help an artist fully realize their creative vision,” he says. “This new partnership is an extension of the amazing work we’ve already done together.”

Adds Decilveo: “I think he noticed that I have a knack for nurturing and developing artists, which could easily be parlayed to a bigger scale by creating a home to develop writers. I trust him and he trusts me to build the joint venture in a special way.”
