And Just Like That…‘s Big problem has been resolved.
Footage of Chris Noth‘s dearly departed Sex and the City character reuniting with Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie in the HBO Max revival’s upcoming Season 1 finale will not make it to air, TVLine has learned exclusively.
The move comes three weeks after Noth was accused of sexual assault by multiple women, allegations the actor has denied. In the wake of the scandal, Noth was dropped by his representation and fired from his series regular gig on CBS’ The Equalizer.
In And Just Like That…‘s Feb. 3 season ender (WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD), Carrie ventures to Paris’ Pont des Arts bridge to scatter Big’s ashes into the Seine river. The sequence was slated to include a fantasy element in which Big — who was killed off in And Just Like That…‘s premiere episode — appears to Carrie. (As Sex acolytes are well aware, Carrie and Big have a long history with the iconic pedestrian overpass.)
According to sources, And Just Like That’s creative team ultimately decided that the minimal footage Noth had shot with Parker on location in Paris was not integral to the scene, which is about Carrie finding closure via the spreading of Big’s ashes. An insider notes that the finale was not locked at the time that the allegations against Noth were made public.
An HBO Max spokesperson declined to comment.
On Dec. 16, two women alleged to The Hollywood Reporter that Noth raped them in separate incidents, one in 2004 and the other in 2015. “The accusations against me made by individuals I met years, even decades, ago are categorically false,” Noth said in a statement at the time. “These stories could’ve been from 30 years ago or 30 days ago — no always means no — that is a line I did not cross. The encounters were consensual. It’s difficult not to question the timing of these stories coming out. I don’t know for certain why they are surfacing now, but I do know this: I did not assault these women.”
Days later, a third woman came forward to accuse Noth of sexual assault in The Daily Beast. The actor denied that allegation as well.
“We support the women who have come forward and shared their painful experiences,” Parker said in a Dec. 20 statement signed by herself and costars Cynthia Nixon (Miranda) and Kristin Davis (Charlotte). “We know it must be a very difficult thing to do and we commend them for it.”
Let’s edit him out of all the Sex and the City episodes, too!
judgy much!!
I hear you!
Better even: now that his career is over, that will tarnish the character too, so why not have it reveal that Carrie actually killed him.
We saw her cook dinner earlier. She caused his heart attack and she was at the recital so she had the perfect alibi. Then when she found him dying she just waited and laughted. The scene we saw is what she told her friends.
Let’s edit out all comments from those who assume guilt without proof of it and attempt to ruin another person’s career and/or life. Without a voice, those who post inane comments intend to cause harm to another – witless as it is – would be rendered useless.
Oh, freedom of speech and all that.
He has been found guilty with no trial. How unAmerican!
Zeitgeist.
No, he hasn’t. He’s been fired from jobs due to these allegations, but he hasn’t faced trial, so right now, legally, he’s presumed innocent. But private employers can respond to things like this in any way they want, and his employers have fired him. And in this particular case, he’s already been paid for filming the cut scene, so whether or not it airs makes no difference.
Yup!! I guess anyone can come forth and accuse anybody of a crime years and years later without any evidence! I don’t know if he’s guilty or not I’m not passing judgment on them or him. But one thing’s for sure he’s already found guilty without a trial and I think that is totally wrong! We don’t know what happened we don’t know if he was telling the truth we don’t know if they are telling the truth. I have sons and it seems to me that a woman’s word comes over a man’s word anytime.
Look at it this way. For over 2 centuries the black population was abused/tortured/disrespected and worse. To compensate, after the separate bu equal debacle, there was affirmative action (which is still front and center). Now there’s CRT.
For over 2 centuries, the female population was considered disposable, less than equivalent to a man, without rights, without much of anything. Most claims of r@pe put the women on trial. Many cases were lost, even with the most compelling evidence. Now, it’s going back the other way – perhaps to compensate. A evidence-free claim, many delayed by years, is considered enough to derail someone’s career and personal life.
I’m sure there’s other groups coming up the road that will experience this reverse backlash as well.
Yawn!
He’s out without a hearing even. I agree with you.
100% agree with you.
What more evidence do you need? These women
Yeah boo hoo men can’t just rape women and no one cares anymore
Totally agree. He’s innocent until proven guilty. These apparent claims are ridiculous. No proof just she said this and that’s it, he is judged unfairly. The women of SATC should of stood by him too.
That’s the Left for you.
I totally agree. That’s America for you. Guilty until proven innocent.
How un-american you say, nooo. Very anerican…that’s the wait it is here now
Look? I’m not saying these women’s claims don’t hold any viability but I find what’s happening to Chris Noth just terrible! Judge me if you will, it’s your God given right if one so wishes.
I’ve been a fan and watching Noth’s work ever since Season 1 of the OG Law & Order when it was him and George Dzunda, then Season 2 with Paul Sorvino, and lastly beginning in Season 3 until his exit with the late but not forgotten Jerry Orbach. I liked his character “Bishop” on Queen Latifah’s leading role as The Equalizer, a reboot of the 1980’s series that ran for 5 seasons with the late Edward Woodward. In my opinion he’ll ultimately be vindicated and found not guilty of these claims. But that’s me.
I believe Chris Noth should be ‘innocent until proven guilty’. This is a ‘she said/he said’ scenario at the moment. Shame on CBS and his other ventures for ‘jumping to conclusions’ and very likely ending a good actor’s career. So sad.
Just my opinion.
Thanks
These are two separate things. Judged innocent is a court of law.
Employers, like the studio which owns this show, have a legal obligation to create a safe workplace. According to colleagues of his – separate from the women who specifically accused him of rape – have vocalized he’s been inappropriate.
And allegations of physical assault against women by him go back to the 90s.
There’s no jumping to conclusions. Women’s statements are evidence and the thread hold for employment is not the same as a
Court. He’s clearly a liability for an employer.
Women’s statements aren’t evidence. I can state anything I want, that doesn’t make it evidence of actually happening. I understand that innocent til proven guilty is for the courts, but do we have even an investigation? Has he been charged with anything? I hope this isn’t true, and if it is of course he should be punished. However, basically erasing him from all of his acting work based on allegations seems harsh.
I couldn’t have said it better myself!! This is getting disgusting how he’s being canceled over accusations not proof and fact!
It’s more of they don’t want to risk their shows’s well-being if they keep him. They don’t need the bad PR if a cast member is accused of something as serious as rape. As a business, it’s well within their right to do so.
You are totally correct
I feel terrible for Chris Noth. His career is clearly over. CBS continues to bring us great show’s but you can help thinking is it going to survive! As for and just like the women is Sex in the city , had a fabulous fun life with great friends and believable up’s and downs. These women’s of Just like that are insecure, sad, confused and not to say this doesn’t in real life but really all at once in one show is depressing.
What I don’t understand is why these women take so long to report any wrongdoing and then when one pops up and says he did somebody did something wrong then here comes that everybody else to say he did this and that to them! I know if that happened to me I don’t care if anybody tried to harass me not to say anything I would say something right then and there! Sometimes I think maybe he is guilty of infidelity and maybe he promised them a step up in the career and it didn’t happen so maybe they decided to get even. And if this is the case I hope he goes after them and I hope he goes after all those companies that let him go and I hope he goes after his coworkers just because they are women they want to go defend these women not knowing if their allegations are true or not
The stages of a sexual assault survivor must be similar to stages of grief. There’s no getting around it. Fortunately, I am not a sexual assault survivor, but I imagine that sometimes it takes a woman, or man quite some time to come forward. First, they wrestle with denial that such an act happened to them. Perhaps they wonder if it’s their fault they were raped. Perhaps it really wasn’t assault and they misjudged it all. All of this coupled with guilt and shame. Next, the person resigns themself to the fact that it happened and tries to move on. A difficult task when you see the person who assaulted you rising in prominence, with their face plastered all over TV, movies and print media. Every time he/she sees their face, it’s a daily reminder of what happened. There is no moving on. He/she asks, why is this person living the good life and I am in therapy (or not) still dealing with trauma? I’m sure anger follows and increases and festers until they come to the realization they must come forward. Not everyone is blessed with the steely resolve of coming forward immediately. Sometimes it takes years to come to grips with what happened. There should be no statute of limitation on sexual assault victims coming forward as it is with murder prosecutions because sexual assault kills a part of a person’s soul that will never be made whole again. Unless one is a sexual assault survivor, I think one cannot judge their journey. Throughout history, women have been shamed for coming forward immediately, or years later. The burden of proof has been on them and they have been judged. Now the shoe is on the other foot. Tragic, but it is what it is.
Thank you for educating the idiot who is victim blaming
I completely agree.
well said jvd
But It Will Be To Little To Late. His Reputation Will Be Tarnished, And Won’t Be Able To Get Work. Also Individuals Who Were Against The Orange Troll Also Faced Sexual Accusations. 🤨
“I like the fictional characters an actor plays therefore I feel sorry for him and not the victims he was accused of sexually assaulting and harassed”
none of the women have pressed charges and most likely won’t so I’m not sure what court of law you think he will be found not guilty of.
They need to scrap the entire AND JUST LIKE THAT series and leave it at one season. Everything great about the SATC franchise has been sullied. Should’ve left well enough alone after the movies.
To clarify, I don’t mean the allegations against Chris Noth is what sullied the franchise, it is the terrible writing and how they have ruined everything that was built in the series with these characters. No one asked for this. It’s not even fun and fabulous.
I agree, the additions to the cast did nothing for the show. The movies were far from great. They should have ended it with the last movie. The outfits for 50 something’s are not attractive. Sarah’s for the most part are over the top.
I second that! The show is just awful! I am not sure why I keep watching it. Am I hoping it will get better or is it like watching a car crash where you can’t help but rubberneck?
They already wrecked the whole show so why not. Hate the whole show even if they didn’t kill Big – what they have done to it, its a trainwreck now. #worstcomebackever and Yes what they have done to Chris Noth is horrible. I am a woman and I think all those women are lying, it’s too coincidental to have it all come out the very weekend he is front page news already.
I like the way you say “I am a woman” as if that makes what you said valid. you know since you’re invalidating 3 other women’s trauma based off absolutely nothing but your gut feeling.
so when Beverly Johnson said she was abused by Noth in the 90s and got a restraining order against him was that also coincidental too?
Didn’t Beverly Johnson accuse Bill Cosby too?
They got restraining orders against each other, so something there was rotten on both sides.
💯 agree
With me. Not PMH 🤦♀️
I thought in this country, that a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty. This is so wrong.
That’s in a court of law. If Chris Noth were on trial, that would be so. However, employers don’t have to hire you. The allegations that Noth faces are serious enough to obviously give employers pause about working with him. They don’t HAVE to employ him, and they’re choosing not to do so.
Another example is Antonio Brown. He behaved in a way that Tampa Bay no longer wants him to be a member of the team. Employers can make choices like that.
There should also be some sort of non rush to judgement idea in situations like this.
Employers can absolutely do this at their prerogative but we have such a “the accusation is enough to have us do this” mentality, it’s seriously really going to go overboard at some point.
Thankfully in a lot of cases, we usually have video proof for corroboration cause everyone’s got their phones out.
There was no allegation with Antonio Brown, we all saw it. Not the same thing.
What’s wrong is when people blame the victims… what’s wrong is when people forget this man abused his ex and threatened to kill her dog… what’s wrong is when ANYONE uses there position of power to force their will on another…
People want to believe that he’s not that person, they want to believe he’s Mike Logan, Mr. Big or Bishop. I get the knee jerk reaction to not believe women who waited, it’s not something I would do, but I’m not them. I doubt he’ll face any real legal charges due to the fact there is no real evidence against him, as with most sexual assaults it’s his word versus hers. And these happened so long ago. They go to a civil court and be dealt with monetarily.
That’s exactly what they want, money. Please you come out 30 years after and accused someone of sexual assault and it’s ok? Not in my book. They are lying as fast as I’m concerned
okay, i understand allegations of sexual assault must be taken seriously, but years later i wonder why it took so long….also, what about innocent until proben guilty? I am disappointed in his costars of sex in the city. they yes support women coming forward, but what about standing upp for someone who has been your friend and coworker for years. from your statements its almost like you are finding himguilty.
Thank you. I just don’t understand why these charges seem to pop up so many years after the fact or not fact. The old he said she said. They should have done something when it happened.
Accusations about him being physical with women date back to the 90s. This isn’t new.
And two things can be true at the same time: you can know someone and they can be an abuser or rapist.
And it’s a super weird flex to try to say that someone isn’t a bad person, they just beat up or rape women because those two things cannot exist at the same time.
If they believed him they would stand up for him. His reputation, though, had established a pattern of violent behavior.
As for women coming forward, the system successfully prosecuted maybe 3-5% of these cases and the trauma for victims is massive. Trauma is not rational and it doesn’t have a timeline that requires approval.
I agree, shame on the stars of SATC and AJLT for throwing their ” Friend” under the bus. Whether or not he’s guilty. They should, as a long time friend and coworker, who, by the way, just defended SJP regarding the Kim Catrell comments about her, stand by their friend. I get that as women, they feel they should stand up for other women, but they know Chris Noth and should at least have said something like, ” it does seem like something he would do” or something to defend him. I get what they are trying to do, but what happened to standing up for a friend?
Yes whatever happened to loyalty I thought they were friends oh I forgot this is all fantasy kim Cattrall left satc because she was treated not so like people should be treated… so it should not be surprising noloyalty
So agree. So disappointed in the cast. They can support women’s rights, but they have worked with him for years. If it was bad, they wouldn’t have had him back. I believe this is bending to the studio. He has been on the air for do long on many shows. How can someone just now be triggered, and I am a woman. But there is too much of destroying a person’s career, too quickly. Mee too has been around, these women could have come forward. He was great on the equalizer
I hope he sues all of them.
Yes, yes and yes to all prior comments. I never watched SATC .
Waiting 30 years to file a complaint is ridiculous.
I am very disappointed in Sarah Jessica Parker & her co-stars re: Chris Noth. I don’t know if he is guilty of these accusations and neither do they, unless they have information they are not revealing. Noth is someone they worked with for years. Yet allegations which have not been proven or resulted in criminal charges and which surfaced just at a time when Noth was in the entertainment news spotlight again were all it took for SJP & Co. to wash their hands of him. I am not saying that allegations of sexual assault or harassment should not be taken seriously. They should. But automatically ostracizing Noth on allegations alone is chilling and troubling.
But that’s the thing: they do know him. Sure they don’t know whether or not he did the things he’s accused of, but they certainly know him well enough to determine that he’s capable of something like this. Otherwise they could have just stayed quiet or try to defend him like a bunch of random commenters on the internet who don’t know him personally at all have been doing.
But why did they keep working with him if they thought he was capable of rape or creating a hostile workplace? Chris was on 40 or so episodes of the original show and brought back for the 2 movies and for this new show. Before the first movie or before the 2nd movie or before the new show they could have just said his character passed away off screen. Seems Sarah and the rest of the cast threw him under the bus so fast was mighty convenient. You’re telling me that they worked with him on multiple shows and movies and didn’t know he was creating a Toxic Work Environment or mistreating crew and cast members? If they found Chris a Toxic Person or Abuser I doubt they would’ve continued to have worked with him over more than 23 years on multiple projects.
He could have said or did things over the years that were off-kilter but didn’t necessarily rise to the level of creating a toxic work environment or fireable offense. Things that didn’t make them think he was capable of sexual assault in that moment, but in retrospect don’t look so great now that the allegations against him have come out.
All the woman on the show are die hard feminists and liberals. They would have to speak out against Chris Noth to keep their status as both feminists and Liberals. Sarah as an actor can’t go against the Hollywood and Political elite. Even if she is a friend of Chris Noth. I believe it’s sad, but true.
Random woman 1: “Let’s ruin a career!”
Random woman 2: “Whom shall we pick?”
Absolutely! It’s a sad world🥂
What happened to being innocent until proven Guilty 😞 I feel he will be without a doubt vindicated. Yet his career and his personal life will never be the same. 😞😞
For all those throwing around “innocent until proven guilty,” that’s a legal concept that only applies to courts of law. It has nothing to do with the way a private business deals with its employees. Legally, Chris Noth is innocent, but his employers are well within their rights to fire him if they so choose. One had nothing to fo with the other.
These women picked when he was leaving the show so they cannot ruin his career, ruin the character Mr Big because of their own messed up lies with men.they wanted to ruin the show .maybe Kim Cattrall was involved given her show tanked and her career suckd.instead zoarker stabbed Noth in the back even though he stood up for her against cattrall.Parker is all about Parker.her being a decent person is a act just like her Carrie one is.she cares only for herself and always has.this shows it.ah Brutus you two as he he stabbed Caesar. As Parker stabbed Noth.her show is all that mattered.may it fail.and may ghost no name witches get theirs
Honestly if they were smart, season 2 would see Carrie reckoning with the reality of her relationship with Big and how toxic it was. How he regularly played to her insecurities and diminished her worth, all while she navigates new dating where she’s treated like a decent human being for once.
I think the character Big should stay as planned. It’s a character. What he did or didn’t do off camera is on him. I am liking And just like that, I want to see it. If you don’t like it…easy turn off the TV.
Innocent until proven guilty he was accused of these things how do we know these women are not lying just because they say so it does not have to be true and his so called friends or cast members not coming to his defense is so I can’t even say and to be fired from another show on just allegations so this is the America we live in now. WOW. Just. TRAGIC
Why on earth would 4 women get together and lie about Chris Noth for no apparent reason? They wouldn’t and even Noth agrees that he had “sexual encounters” with them. I liked the character “Mr. Big” but, not Chris , the accused rapist. Losing his job and reputation is a small price to pay for his behavior!
Disgusting hypocrisy
It’s not true that he only filmed a cameo. In addition to the bridge scene there are press photos of them filming restaurant scenes and Big and Carrie on a horse and carriage. It’s a shame all this footage will not air as it was probably some of the best this season had to offer.
Chris Noth has always grossed me out. Always. I couldn’t stand him in any of his roles. Now I know why.
I get it but also as a fan, I would like to have closure with the story.
This is total BS!!!!! For God sakes, we are adults. You just ruined a beautiful scene for nothing. I’m so pissed at you. He has not been found guilty of anything yet! I’m done with this show!!!
Her being in Paris certainly makes it easier for London’s Samantha to make a super secretly filmed finale appearance to close out the season.
Also, y’all need to believe women.
Kim hates SJP with the rage of a burning sun. There will be no cameo.
She’s seeming more valid in her complaints every day! Well done Kim!
Believing women is one thing.but as a woman, cancel culture is too much too quick now. Chris Both defended SJP after Kim Cantrell’s nasty comments about her and her workplace attitude. She should defend him, while understanding women have the right to say what they feel. But this just seems to be the stars of the show, are being to HBO. If you don’t distance yourselves, no more show or paychecks for any of you. So disgusting
Leave the damn finale with Mr. Big in it!!! That is what I would like to see and I know that I am not alone. What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty in a court of law! Omg this is just crazy…rant over.
I agree–what ever happened to “innocent until proven guilty”?? But NO!! Now we have the cancel culture who ruins someone’s long outstanding career. Also shame shame on the chicks from “Sex and the City” who worked with him for years and now just throw him under the bus. At least I won’t have to watch the new series since it was already ruined by his first accuser saying his character was killed. Thanks much beotch@!! The only reason I ever watched “Sex and the City” was to see Mr Big and the actors Willie Garson & Mario Cantone.
I have not watched any episode of the revival. I am not planning to.
Judge, jury and executioner—that is what society has become! No one is being prosecuted but sued and dragged through the mud! He is a wonderful and talented actor. No chance for people with any doubts and no chance for a do-over. Over 5 years at the height of an actor’s career? Really??
