The cabal of pro wrestlers, sensual deviants and nerds known as The New Day were charged with hosting Wrestlemania 33, and did so with a heavy dose of Final Fantasy. The longest-reigning tag team champions strutted to the ring in front of an announced crowd of 101,000 dressed in Final Fantasy 14 inspired costumes.
Big E sported the robe and katana of the MMO’s Samurai class, while Xavier Woods wore the gauntlets and shin guards of the Monk. Kofi Kingston’s boots and rapier paid tribute to the Red Mage, and he pedaled to the ring on an ice cream cart adorned with Moogles and Chocobos.
Wrestling Twitter seemed to like it.

Some fans of the franchise wished they had gone further.
hoping they run with this Final Fantasy #WrestleMania theme and have New Day fly to the moon inside the Big Show

This isn’t The New Day’s first time bringing cosplay to the wrestling world. At Wrestlemania 32, the trio of WWE superstars paid homage to Dragon Ball Z with Saiyan armor and scouters.
This year’s outfits were a tie-in with Square Enix, which was promoting Final Fantasy 14 Online: Stormblood— an upcoming expansion to its MMO.
