SMOSH Games, the sketch comedy/gaming YouTube channel from Defy Media, has teamed with Ubisoft and Defy Media to launch a digital series based around the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Origins.
The three-episode series, titled Operation: Open World and premiering on SMOSH Game’s YouTube channel on Thursday at 11 a.m. PT, takes SMOSH Games hosts Jovenshire and Mari Takahashi to Egypt, the setting for the new game focusing on an ancient society of assassins. While there, Takahashi and Jovenshire will experience the culture and activities explored in the game. The duo will visit ancient Egyptian landmarks and learn about the mysteries of mummies, ancient weapons and animal life that call the Nile home, as they exist both today in our world and in-game in Assassin’s Creed: Origins.

Some of Takahashi’s and Jovenshire’s adventures will be shown side-by-side with gameplay footage to highlight the open-world exploration and escapades players will be able to get their hands on when Origins hits stores.
Operation: Open World is the first program of its kind for SMOSH Games, and the collaboration offers Ubisoft the opportunity to bring its ancient Egyptian setting to life.
The upcoming program is Ubisoft’s only digital partnership around their much-anticipated entry in the long-running Assassin franchise. The series was launched in 2007 with Assassin’s Creed, set during the Third Crusade in the Holy Land in 1191. Since then, over a dozen games have been released under the Assassins banner, with tableaus that vary from Renaissance-era Italy to 18th century Caribbean seas during the Golden Age of Piracy.

Assassin’s Creed: Origins will be available for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC on Oct. 27.
