Sherlock Holmes studio Frogwares has stated that its upcoming Call of Cthulhu title will be "dark" and "creepy".

Speaking to Digital Spy, business developer Olga Ryzhko revealed that the newly-announced game will be an "investigation horror".

"We're going to bring our experience with making Sherlock Holmes games - particularly the investigation side," she said. "[The atmosphere] is very important to the game. It's horror. It's pretty dark, it's pretty creepy.

"We're going to [evoke] some strong emotions and feelings from the players, and the strongest feeling is fear."

Ryzhko added that Frogwares is collaborating with scenario writers who have years of experience working on the pen-and-paper Call of Cthulhu role-playing game.

"[Some of them] have been doing this for more than 25 years," she stated, before confirming that the title is still in "early development".

Frogwares is also currently developing Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which will be released later this year.
