Paramount Pictures chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos said during his opening remarks at the studio’s CinemaCon presentation this eventing that a sequel to the studio’s spring blockbuster A Quiet Place is in the works. He provided no further details.
Gianopulos said he would never have guessed that “Jim” from The Office would make a silent horror film. “It’s the artist with a true vision that makes the improbable happen,” said Gianopulos, giving props to filmmaker John Krasinski, Emily Blunt and producer Platinum Dunes.
Gianopulos also mentioned that after the studio’s fall at the box office, “we’re laying the foundation for the success that Paramount had in the past and I’m incredibly confident that we have the right team, culture, and attitude in place to take Paramount to new heights. And we already started on that road to giant success with A Quiet Place.”
A Quiet Place this past frame ranked No. 1 in its third weekend at the domestic box office and has grossed $213 million worldwide.
