The reteam of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence has a new title, Bad Boys for Life, which we’re told is an indicator that the feature is now becoming a reality. Sony is still nailing down a production start date, hence it would never be ready by next summer for its June 2 date. No problem for the Culver City studio as the four-day Martin Luther King Jr. weekend of January 12, 2018, will do just fine. Mike Fleming Jr. broke the news last summer that Joe Carnahan is set to direct. Back in April, Jerry Bruckheimer told us that the film was still being written.
In its new spot, Bad Boys for Life will go up against 20th Century Fox’s Maze Runner: The Death Cure and Paramount animated feature Sherlock Gnomes.
The threequel, the first in the series since 2003, leaves behind its former June 2 rivals Warner Bros.’ Wonder Woman and 20th Century Fox’s Captain Underpants starring Ed Helms, Kevin Hart and Thomas Middleditch.
