Starz said today at TCA that the sophomore seasons of its originals Ash vs. Evil Dead and Blunt Talk will premiere back-to-back on October 2. An extended episode of Ash will start at 8 PM, followed by the talk-show sendup starring Patrick Stewart at 8:35.
The 10-episode Season 2 of Ash vs. Evil Dead sees Ash (Bruce Campbell) forced to leave his cushy retirement in Jacksonville, return to his hometown of Elk Grove, MI, and mount up once again to face the Evil Dead. This time, he’ll have to form an uneasy alliance with his former enemy Ruby (Lucy Lawless) as Elk Grove becomes the nucleus to the most dangerous horror Ash has faced.
Ray Santiago and Dana DeLorenzo returns as co-stars, while Lee Majors, Ted Raimi and Michelle Hurd join the cast this year as Ash’s father, childhood best friend and high school love, respectively. Sam Raimi executive produces with Rob Tapert, Campbell, Ivan Raimi and showrunner Craig DiGregori.
Also running 10 episodes, Season 2 of Blunt Talk sees Walter Blunt (Stewart) and his team on top of the network ratings when Walter runs into an old flame, in town to investigate a conspiracy involving one of Los Angeles’ most crucial environmental threats. Rosalie (Jacki Weaver), Jim (Timm Sharp), Celia (Dolly Wells), Martin (Karan Soni) and Shelly (Mary Holland) — with all their various neuroses intact — are by Walter’s side as he delves into his past, which leads him into a web of intrigue affecting the future of LA.
Seth MacFarlane and Fuzzy Door Productions serve as executive producers along with writer and showrunner Jonathan Ames, Tristram Shapeero and Stephanie Davis.
