YouTube restricts Valve’s Counter‑Strike 2 skins and could block GTA 6 videos under new rules on gambling, “mass violence” and “realistic human characters”

The post then outlines specific changes, beginning with how “online gambling content” in video games will be handled.

These updates aren’t limited to Counter-Strike 2. Titles such as Grand Theft Auto 6 could be affected because the policy also tightens rules around graphic depictions of violence, with an emphasis on scenes involving lifelike human characters.

YouTube says reviewers will weigh factors such as a scene’s duration, prominence, and whether it features realistic human characters when deciding how to enforce these rules. Given GTA 6’s detailed character models and mature content — including notably advanced visuals — some footage may fall under the stricter guidelines. More on the game’s visuals is available here.

According to the announcement, most creators should see little or no disruption. Content uploaded before November 17 — the apparent rollout date for the new policies — may be removed or age-restricted, though creators will have opportunities to edit material ahead of enforcement. Hopefully fans will continue to enjoy GTA 6 videos later this year and beyond — even if the Counter-Strike 2 situation remains a cautionary example.
