When asked whether Midnight’s contentious class-design changes—primarily focused on visual clarity and accessibility—were intended to prepare WoW for consoles, Hazzikostas was unequivocal: “It is not.”
“To be fully transparent, there is no reason for us to hide anything about this,” Hazzikostas explained. “If we were actively working towards bringing World of Warcraft to consoles or a bunch of other platforms, we’d be saying: ‘we’re actively working towards this. We have a lot of work to do but it’s a place where we want to land.’ Our focus remains on the PC-based experience.”
Hazzikostas makes a reasonable case. Blizzard would have little motive to conceal a console initiative, yet companies rarely confirm large-scale projects before they’re ready to reveal them publicly. So if a console release were planned and intended for a later announcement, silence would be expected. Still, his comments leave little room for hopeful speculation—players waiting for WoW on PlayStation or Xbox should probably stop holding their breath.
